Privacy Policy


The 23rd Annual Fall Scientific Meeting of SMSNA 23rd ISSM Scientific Meeting & 23rd ISSM Scientific Meeting, hereafter referred to as ISSM/SMSNA Joint Scientific Meeting 2022, is organized by International Society for Sexual Medicine (ISSM) and Sexual Medicine Society of North America (SMSNA).

The ISSM/SMSNA values and respects your individual privacy and is committed to protecting it. This Privacy Policy explains how the ISSM/SMSNA collects, uses and safeguards information collected through its meeting website, hereafter referred to as the ‘Site’, or the registration website which is hosted on and all underlying folders of the registration form . 

Defined Terms

For the purposes of this Privacy Policy, the following terms are defined:

  • Personally Identifiable Information – any and all information identifying you personally, such as your name, address, telephone number(s), email address, or company name.
  • Non-Personally Identifiable Information – information that does NOT identify you personally. This may include technical or demographic information, such as your IP address, the browser you used to access the Site, date and time of visit, the URL of the page being loaded, other website(s) visited, any previously assigned cookie identification (a unique identifier assigned to a user to identify repeat visitors), browser window size, your geographic location and device or operating system used to access the Site. To capture non-personally identifiable information, we use cookies.
    • Cookies– A "cookie" is a small text file that web servers typically send to a user's computer when they visit a website. Cookies are stored as text files on user's hard drive and can be accessed by web servers when the user visits a Site or views an advertisement. Information Collection

When you browse the Site and do not interact with the site for any online service or product, you browse anonymously. Personally identifiable information is not collected as you browse.

Google Analytics
We use a tool called “Google Analytics” to collect information about use of this site. Google Analytics collects information such as how often users visit this site, what pages they visit when they do so, and what other sites they used prior to coming to this site. We use the information we get from Google Analytics only to improve this site. Google Analytics collects only the IP address assigned to you on the date you visit this site, rather than your name or other identifying information. We do not combine the information collected through the use of Google Analytics with personally identifiable information. Although Google Analytics plants a permanent cookie on your web browser to identify you as a unique user the next time you visit this site, the cookie cannot be used by anyone but Google. Google’s ability to use and share information collected by Google Analytics about your visits to this site is restricted by the Google Analytics Terms of Use (as amended for government websites) and the Google Privacy Policy. When you choose to interact with our site (i.e. when registering for the meeting), we will collect certain personally identifiable information from you. The type of information collected may include your name, address, phone number, billing information, email address or other demographic information. 

Information Use

Once collected, we may use your personally- and non-personally identifiable information for the following purposes:

  • Register you for the meeting.
  • Measure the success of any promotional placement we run on the Site so that we may better match your interests and preferences to any ads or offers we have available

Except as described in this Privacy Policy or at the time we request the information, we do not otherwise use, share or disclose your personally identifiable information to any third parties.

The ISSM/SMSNA adheres to the GDPR for all EU Citizens. This allows them the “right to rectification” and the “right to erasure (right to be forgotten)”. GDPR compliance is managed using the following procedures:

The ISSM/SMSNA invites EU citizens to opt-in to commercial or promotional electronic mailings. For this, your explicit consent is required during the registration process of the meeting. Electronic email will not be sent to any EU citizen that has not actively granted permission to do so.

You have the right to access, review, update, correct, or delete the personal information held about you. The ISSM/SMSNA sends "transactional or relational email messages," which include, but are not limited to, electronically transmitted news, informational bulletins, meetings and member-benefit announcements, and surveys. You may opt-out of a specific email list by following the "unsubscribe" instructions of any email message sent to you from the ISSM/SMSNA or its component or affiliated organizations. If you are an EU citizen, you will be asked to explicitly give the ISSM/SMSNA permission to send these types of messages. Additionally, the ISSM/SMSNA will:

  • Ensure it uses email and mailing lists for the ISSM/SMSNA operational activities. Additionally, it ensures this email policy—including unsubscribe requests or EU Citizens whom have not granted permission—is strictly enforced.
  • Ensure its email promotional announcements are sent to recipients whom have an interest in the subject matter or in the case of an EU citizen, has actively approved promotional/ commercial announcements to be sent.
  • Ensures all promotional announcements contain a marketing-specific subject line, concise promotional copy, accurate reply instructions, a link to this privacy policy, and clear unsubscribe instructions.
  • Honor all "unsubscribe" requests and adhere to GDPR for all EU citizens in a timely manner.

Individuals, registering for the ISSM/SMSNA Joint Scientific Meeting 2022 through the Site, are required to provide personally identifiable information. This information is temporarily retained in the ISSM/SMSNA Joint Scientific Meeting 2022 database. We retain your personal data for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Site, newsletters, and Standard Set subscriptions to you, or as otherwise required by law.  Due to inactivity we may contact you to see if you still wish us to hold your data or if we should delete it.

ISSM/SMSNA Joint Scientific Meeting 2022 attendee email addresses may be made available to other ISSM/SMSNA Joint Scientific Meeting 2022 attendees through the ISSM/SMSNA Joint Scientific Meeting 2022 dedicated meeting application. The ISSM/SMSNA does not share, rent or sell email addresses to commercial vendors. 

Information Sharing

The ISSM/SMSNA may disclose your personal information if required to do so by law or in the good-faith belief that such action is necessary to: (a) conform to legal requirements or comply with legal process served on the ISSM/SMSNA; (b) protect and defend the rights or property of the ISSM/SMSNA; or (c) protect the personal safety of the ISSM/SMSNA Joint Scientific Meeting 2022 staff or members of the public in urgent circumstances.

Banner Advertising

Banner advertisements on the Site do not collect any personally identifiable information on individual visitors. The ISSM/SMSNA does collect aggregate data on visitors such as time of day and web browser type, which may be shared with advertisers to determine their advertising effectiveness.

To access the Site, no user ID or password are required.

Therefore, you may find when clicking on your "Back" button it shows you a saved version of a previously viewed page. Caching in no way affects the security of your confidential user ID or password.

SSL Technology
The ISSM/SMSNA realizes the importance of security, so we have taken steps to enhance the protection of information sent to or from The ISSM/SMSNA over the Internet. We require a "secure session" be established, using Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology, each time you supply or access information in a secure online area. SSL technology creates a private conversation only your computer and the ISSM/SMSNA-systems can understand. The SSL technology encodes information as it is being sent over the internet between your computer and systems used by the ISSM/SMSNA, helping to ensure the transmitted information remains confidential.
